Wirral West MP Margaret Greenwood has written an open letter to Peel Holdings calling on them to build the homes Wirral needs and to protect the green belt.

Planning permission for up to 13,000 homes was granted to Peel in 2010. The government requires Wirral Council to set out plans for 12,000 homes to be built in Wirral over the next 15 years. Margaret Greenwood MP believes that these homes should be built at Wirral Waters to provide much-needed housing and to save Wirral's precious green belt.

Margaret Greenwood MP said:

"The Wirral Waters website proudly announces that the development is the ‘largest and most exciting regeneration project in the UK’ with ‘up to 13,000 new homes consented.'

"Planning permission was granted to Peel back in 2010. Why, then, are we still waiting?

"Families are waiting for housing and our precious green belt is now at risk.

"Peel must come forward with detailed plans for homes at Wirral Waters, providing much-needed housing and saving Wirral's much-loved green belt."
